Local Area Information
Box Hill is known for its multicultural diversity, and its resulting large range of restaurants and cafes of various international cuisines. The area is 14km east from Melbourne CBD and has a great public transport network including buses, trains and trams.
Box Hill has a bustling shopping precinct that range from shops along Station Street and Whitehorse Road, to the suburb large shopping centre; Centro Box Hill - where you can find food courts, specialty fashion retail stores, indoor market and major chain stores.
There are a number of playgrounds in Box Hill including Elgar Park, which boasts a large playground next to a miniature railway parks, with access to public toilets and seating. Box Hill also caters to children with disabilities with Surrey Dive Park Playground.
Box Hill Community Arts Centre is an artistic hub that provides workshops, events, learning resources and room hire.
