Victoria recorded 1438 new, locally acquired cases of COVID-19 overnight, a daily record for Victoria, and five more deaths.
Eighty per cent of eligible Victorians how have a first dose of vaccine and 49.5 per cent a second.
There are now 11,018 active cases of coronavirus across the state after a record 65,497 tests were returned and 34,323 vaccinations were administered. There are 398 people in hospital in Victoria with 83 in ICU and 57 on ventilators.
Premier Daniel Andrews said the big jump in cases, from 950 yesterday, was largely because of illegal gatherings of multiple households. He said that during October the interval between first and second Pfizer doses will be reduced from six to three weeks.
NSW reported 941 new local cases and six deaths. There are 1090 people in hospital and 213 in ICU.
Almost 87 per cent of people in NSW now have a first dose of vaccine.
Queensland reported six new locally acquired cases bringing the total cases in the recent outbreak to 22 after 14,216 tests yesterday 22,000 vaccinations were administered.
Two weeks of extra restrictions will come in in for Brisbane, Gold Coast, Moreton Bay, Logan and Townville.

Victoria recorded 950 new, locally acquired cases of COVID-19 overnight and seven deaths - a record number for this outbreak. Most of the new cases were in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.
Victoria now has 80 per cent of people with a single dose and 49 per cent people with two doses.
The Latrobe Valley has entered a seven-day lockdown after four additional COVID-19 cases were detected in the regional area, coming after 18 cases were identified yesterday.
There are now 9890 active coronavirus cases across the state after 61,322 tests were returned yesterday and 34,028 vaccines administered. Xxx per cent of Victoria now have had a single dose of vaccine.
A third of 12 to 15-year-olds across the country are now vaccinated just two weeks after becoming eligible.
The federal government announced the end of COVIOD income support measures. When Australia reaches its 70 per cent fully vaccinated target, the payments won’t be automatically renewed and people will have to re-apply each week. At 80 per cent vaccination, the COVID disaster payment will be scrapped and people will have to rely on the ordinary welfare system.
Queensland has reported two new local cases, taking the total of the recent outbreak to 18, and meaning the state faces a potential lockdown while the ACT reported xx cases.
NSW reported 863 new local cases of COVID-19 overnight and 15 more deaths.
New Zealand recorded 45 new case, with only 33 linked to existing cases.

Victoria recorded 867 new, locally acquired cases of COVID-19 overnight and four deaths.
There are now 9261 active coronavirus cases across the state after 49.450 tests were returned yesterday and 35,160 vaccines administered. Victoria will today pass the 80 per cent single dose mark.
Health authorities say they will be able to revise the gap between COVID-19 vaccine doses down from six weeks if they’re given certainty about vaccine supply through October,
Queensland has reported four new local cases, including a truck driver who was infectious in the community for a week and the ACT 13 cases, seven of which were infectious in the community.

Victoria recorded 705 new, locally acquired cases of COVID-19 overnight - down from yesterday’s 779 cases - and one death.
There are now 8538 active coronavirus cases across the state after 51,252 tests were returned yesterday and 29,657 vaccines administered. Sixty per cent of the new cases were in the northern suburbs and 30 per cent in Hume.
The Victorian Government is rolling out grants for more vaccinations at GP clinics and pharmacies with the imminent arrival of hundreds of thousands of Moderna doses.
NSW reported 787 new local cases of COVID-19 overnight and 12 more deaths after 94,577x tests were returned.
The NSW Government announced the state’s path out of lockdown when 70 and 80 per cent of people have had a first dose of vaccine.
On October 11, with a 70 per cent double dose mark, NSW will start to open up. At the end of October, with an 80 per cent vaccination mark, travel across the state will be able, hospitality will open and community sport will resume.
December 1 will see a 90 per cent vaccination mark reached.

Victoria recorded 733 new, locally acquired cases of COVID-19 overnight and one death.
There are now 7160 active coronavirus cases across the state after 56,250 tests were returned yesterday and 41,023 vaccines administered.
More than half of Australians over 16 are now fully vaccinated.
Health authorities fear that Wednesday’s anti-vaccine protests in Melbourne could become a super-spreader event after an attendee tested positive to COVID-19.
There are 297 people in hospital with COVID-19 in Victoria, 66 in intensive care and 46 on a ventilator. Of those hospitalised in Victoria, 77 per cent are not vaccinated at all, 19 per cent have had one dose and four per cent are fully vaccinated.
The majority of Victoria’s new cases are people under 50.
NSW reported 1043 new local cases of COVID-19 overnight and eleven more deaths after 139,162 tests were returned.
There are 1186 people in NSW hospitals, 232 in ICU and 111 on ventilators.

Victoria recorded 766 new, locally acquired cases of COVID-19 overnight and four deaths.
This is Victoria’s largest ever daily COVID-19 tally – surpassing the previous record of 725 daily cases reported in August last year.
There are now 6666 active coronavirus cases across the state after 62,408 tests were returned yesterday and 40,957 vaccines administered. 23 per cent of children aged 12-15 are now vaccinated.
There are 257 people in Victorian hospitals, 81 per cent of whom are not vaccinated.
A vaccination hub for vulnerable Melburnians including asylum seekers and rough sleepers has been closed at the Town Hall after staff were abused and threatened by protesters.
NSW reported 1063 new local cases of COVID-19 overnight and six more deaths after 139,162 tests were returned.
There are 1244 people in NSW hospitals, 233 in ICU and 112 on ventilators. Of the people in ICU only six people have two doses of vaccine.

Protests continued in the face of a strong police presence in the city today after the construction industry went into a two-week lock down because of a rise in cases linked to non-compliance of COVID rules.
Victoria reported 628 new, locally acquired cases of COVID-19 and three deaths overnight, up from yesterday’s 603 cases and the highest daily figure in more than a year.
There are now 6223 active cases of COVID-19 across Victoria after 60,829 tests were returned and 43,056 vaccines administered.

There are now 1232 COVID-19 cases in NSW’s hospitals, including 242 in ICU and 122 on a ventilator.

Victoria’s construction industry has gone into a two-week lock down after a rise in cases linked to non-compliance of COVID rules.
Victoria reported 603 COVID-19 new local cases overnight and one more death. There are 241 people in hospital with 39 on ventilators – 98 per cent of then not fully vaccinated.
There were 40,811 vaccines administered and 48,829 test results received. There are now 6,000 active cases of coronavirus across Victoria. More than 73 per cent of Victorians have had first dose of vaccine and 44.4 per cent two doses.
Dates for the restart of face-to-face learning and childcare in Victoria have been announced, independent of the vaccination targets.
Year 12 students return to face-to-face learning five days a week from October 5. Prep students return to classrooms Monday to Wednesday from October 18.
Years 1 and 2 return Thursdays and Fridays from October 18. All other years return for between two and five days a week from October 26. All students attend five days a week from November 5. Childcare opens to all children of fully vaccinated parents from October 26.
NSW reported 1022 new local cases of COVID-19 overnight and ten more deaths.
Lockdowns will be enforced in the Byron, Kempsey and Tweed council areas in northern NSW from 5pm today for one week.
There are now 1266 COVID-19 cases in NSW’s hospitals, including 244 in ICU and 118 who on a ventilator. 250 people have died during the current outbreak.

The Victorian Government has released a road map out of COVID-19 lockdowns which will put life on a more normal footing.
The key points of the road map are: schools to return in a staggered format in Term 4 with Year 12s to return on October 5; lockdown will end around October 26 when 70 per cent of people have had two doses of vaccine; restaurants and retail to reopen around November 5 when 80 per cent of when people have had two doses of vaccine; at 80 per cent fully vaccinated masks will be required indoors only, and; up to 30 people will be able to gather for Christmas.
The modelling on which the road map is based says that the strategy could lead to up to 4000 infections a day and the deaths of between 1455 and 3152 people.
Victorian reported 567 COVID-19 new local cases overnight and one more death. There are 209 people in hospital with 40 on ventilators – 98 per cent of then not fully vaccinated.
There were 39,939 vaccines administered and 50,915 test results received. There are now 5,675 active cases of coronavirus across Victoria.
NSW reported 935 new local cases and four more deaths. Yesterday 17 deaths were reported – the highest number for the current outbreak.
Residents in Sydney’s west and south west today see restrictions eased, with most rules in the hardest hit local government areas now in-line with the rest of the city.

Victoria recorded reported 510 new local cases of COVID-19 overnight, with just 124 of them linked to other cases. Nine of the cases were in regional Victoria.
There was one death and there are now 4,697 cases state-wide. More than 90 per cent of the new cases were in Melbourne’s west and north.
There are 208 people in hospital in Victoria, 49 in ICU and 32 on a ventilator. Only two of the cases are fully vaccinated.
There were 55,476 tests returned yesterday and 70 per cent of eligible people have now had a first dose of vaccine – meaning the easing of restrictions to begin, including small outdoor gatherings and a 10km travel limit.
NSW is expected to hit the 50 per cent fully vaccinated threshold today.
There were 1284 new local cases in NSW and 12 deaths.
The ACT reported 30 new local cases, 14 of them active in the community while infectious.

Victoria’s lockdown restrictions will be slightly eased tomorrow, with small outdoor social gatherings set to return.
The five-kilometre movement restriction will expand to 10 kilometres, outdoor gyms and skate parks will reopen and Victorians will be able to exercise for four hours per day instead of two.
The move comes as the state is about hit the 70 per cent first dose threshold.
There were 514 new local cases, 366 of them under investigation. Ballarat has entered a week-long lockdown after three more cases were reported there.
Yesterday, 41,758 vaccines were administered and 61,961 test results were returned in Victoria.
NSW reported 1351 new local cases of COVID-19 and 12 deaths – ten of them unvaccinated.
There are now 15,000 cases in NSW after 129,266 tests were returned yesterday.

The state government will announce Victoria’s roadmap out of lock down on Sunday. It is expected small outdoor gatherings will be allowed from Sunday.
Victoria recorded 423 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 overnight and there were two deaths, bringing the total in this outbreak to eight and the total number of cases to 4,038. There are 149 cases linked to existing cases and 274 under investigation.
There were 41,856 doses of vaccine administered in state centres and 54,600 test results returned. A million doses of vaccine have now been administered in Victoria in less than five weeks.
Shepparton will come out of lockdown after three days with no cases but Ballarat will go back into lock down for seven days.
NSW reported 1259 new local cases of COVID-19 and 12 deaths – ten of them unvaccinated.
The state has reached its 80 per cent first dose threshold as the 9pm curfew has been lifted in the 12 worst affected Sydney LGAs.
The ACT has reported 13 new cases, eight active in the community while infectious, and New Zealand 14.
The UK will soon begin rolling out COVID-19 vaccine booster shots to the over 50s, frontline health workers and other vulnerable groups as it braces for a surge in cases in winter.

Victoria recorded 445 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 overnight and there were two deaths – one a man in his 20s who died at home.
But the state is inching closer to its 70 per cent first vaccination dose target, with almost 67.5 per cent of Victorians aged 16 or over having received one shot.
Of the 158 people in hospital with COVID-19, 91 per cent were not vaccinated and eight per cent were partially vaccinated. Just one person was fully vaccinated,
There were 36,615 doses of vaccine administered and 42,694 test results returned.
The Victorian Government announced $22 million to go towards 20 pop-up community mental health services, with 90 clinicians providing counselling.
NSW recorded 1127 new local cases and two deaths. There have been 186 deaths since June.
The ACT reported 13 new local cases prompting a four week extension of the lock down - and New Zealand 15 new cases.

Australia is now vaccinating people at the rate of 1.8 million a week, according to the federal government.
Victoria recorded 437 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 overnight, with only 202 of them linked to existing cases. Four of the cases were reported in regional Victoria.
Victorians are now 40.8 per cent fully vaccinated and with 66.2 per cent of people with one dose.
There are now 3,507 active cases in Victoria with 157 in hospital, 38 in ICU and 26 on a ventilator.
Eighty-nine per cent of people in hospital were unvaccinated, 11 per cent have had one dose and none were fully vaccinated.
Construction workers will get priority access to vaccinations and the industry will be under greater compliance scrutiny to stop growing outbreaks in the sector that then spread across the city.
NSW recorded 1257 new local cases and seven deaths.
Parents and guardians can now make COVID-19 vaccine bookings online for 12 to 15-year-olds.
Access will be available for both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines from next week and the Moderna vaccine will be available through the pharmacy networks.

Victoria has recorded 334 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 overnight, the highest number during the current outbreak - with only 149 of them linked to existing cases.

Victoria’s has recorded 246 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 overnight for the second day in a row.
Ninety cases are linked to known outbreaks and there are 156 mystery cases.
There are now 1786 active cases of COVID-19 across Victoria after 43,858 tests were returned and 32,300 tests were returned yesterday.
The cases were largely found in Hume, Moreland, Whittlesea, Wyndham, Hobsons’ Bay, Darebin, Brimbank and Melton – all with low levels of vaccinations.
There are 110 people in hospital, 30 in ICI and 14 on ventilators. Those on ventilators are aged 17 to 76.
Now, 61.4 per cent of Victorians have a first dose of vaccines.
NSW recorded 1220 new local COVID-19 cases and 8 deaths after 100745 tests were returned yesterday.
There are 192 people in ICU in NSW and 75 on a ventilator. There are 74 per cent of people in NSW with a first dose of a vaccine.

Victoria has recorded 246 new local cases of COVID-19 overnight – the figure is up from yesterday’s 183 local cases and the highest number of daily cases in more than a year.
There are 121 cases linked to existing outbreaks and 125 mystery cases with over a thousand exposure sites.
There are now 1619 active cases of COVID-19 across Victoria after 42,248 tests were returned and 26,955 vaccines administered.

New data shows Victoria could hit the 70 per cent first dose mark by September 18, triggering some easing of restrictions.
The State Government announced subsidies for landlords to prevent the eviction of private tenants who have lost work because of the pandemic and also an extension of the COVID homeless program which has put 1100 homeless people in permanent housing and 1600 in temporary hotel accommodation.

NSW recorded 1,288 new local COVID-19 cases and seven deaths
Seven million vaccinations have now been delivered in NSW, amounting to 70 per cent of first doses administered.
Queensland has recorded one new case on the Gold Coast, a truck driver who may have been active in the community for five days. Another family has been quarantined after it was believed they travelled to Melbourne.

Victoria’s COVID case numbers will continue to rise, Premier Daniel Andrews has said. The state will now adopt a strategy to suppress cases to buy time to get people vaccinated. Restrictions will largely remain over the next few weeks.
The plan is to reach a 70 per cent first dose level by September 23 when restrictions on travel limits, exercise time and outdoor gyms and equipment will be eased.
But Victoria’s ban on playgrounds will be scrapped as the government starts to reveal a road map out of the pandemic.
But the 9pm to 5am curfew will stay to deter illegal gatherings.
Victorian recorded 120 new local cases with 56 under investigation – the highest case number since last September. Only 20 were in isolation. Two women died from COVID-19 in their homes.
There were 33,455 vaccines were administered yesterday and 56,051 tests returned.
There are now 900 cases across the state – the highest number since August last year.
There 58 Victorians in hospital, 21 in ICU and 14 on ventilators.
NSW recorded 1,116 new local cases of COVID-19 overnight and four more deaths after 173,913 tests were returned.
There are now 917 COVID cases in hospital, 150 in ICU and 66 on a ventilator.
The ACT recorded 23 new cases and New Zealand 75.
