Preparation for Obtaining a Forklift Licence

Interested in improving your job seeking skills? AMES Australia is running a short course ‘Preparation for Forklift’ at no charge that will assist participants in preparation for obtaining a forklift license which will  improve their employment opportunities.

Please note that the course delivery will depend on student numbers.

What will I learn?

Content covered in this course will include:

  • Employment opportunities with forklift license
  • What is a forklift?  - How to operate and identify main components
  • Types of forklifts
  • What is a High Risk Work License (HRWL)?
  • Getting a HRWL requirements/assessments
  • WH&S requirements/legislation, Definitions of Acts, Regulations, Code of practice, Australian Standards, Duty of Care, work instructions, roles and responsibilities
  • Worksite hazards and identification, Hierarchy of risk control, Applying control measures, PPE
  • Focus on Forklift test identify themes and conduct practice tests to reinforce learning and better  prepare learner to successfully obtaining a forklift license.

Eligibility

Applicant must be 18 years of age and above; Applicants must reside in Victoria; ACSF Level 2 -3; To be eligible to study this course the participants must be a permanent resident or an Australian citizen

An intermediate level of English is required, however your English level will be assessed on application.

One of the following should also apply:

  • an Australian Citizen
  • a Permanent Resident
  • a holder of a permanent visa
  • a New Zealand citizen
  • SEE client

Asylum Seekers now eligible for Skills First courses

Training Providers which are TAFE Institutes or Learn Local Organisations are now able to confirm an individual’s eligibility for the Asylum Seeker VET Program by using the Commonwealth Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) to confirm if the individual holds a valid:

  • Bridging Visa Class E (BVE)
  • Safe Haven Enterprise (SHEV)
  • Temporary Protection Visa (TPV)

Cost
